On Monday 17 February the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards winners were announced in a star-studded ceremony hosted by David Tennant at The Royal Festival Hall in London. Celebrating the best in the past year’s film, winners included Conclave, The Brutalist, Adrien Brody and Zoe Saldaña. Designed by Yellow Studio, this year’s BAFTA Awards stage was a striking tribute to excellence, featuring a sculptural installation of threads that symbolised the winners' achievements.

Inspired by the moment an artist steps into the light of recognition, the design captures the ephemeral brilliance of achievement. Extending from above, flowing to the stage floor in precise dynamic angles, the threads are a deep symbolic representation of the spotlight that honours cinematic excellence. Suspended in space, the threads create the illusion of movement, reflecting storytelling’s ever-evolving nature and the fluidity of creative expression.

The BAFTA mask stands at the centre of the stage design, framed by the cascading threads. As beams of light refract through the threads, they form an ethereal glow that envelops the stage, enhancing its theatricality. This seamless fusion of material and light echoes the fundamental principles of cinema itself - where beams of light are transformed into moving images.

Yellow Studio’s design is a sculptural embodiment of celebration and making the intangible visible. Like a spotlight, each thread weaves individual achievements into a radiant collective display. The result is a stage not just seen but felt—one that resonated with the spirit of cinema, where light and artistry seamlessly converged.
