BUENOS AIRES
YOK Studios collaborated with Neo Pistea on the live presentation of his album Culto in Buenos Aires, developing a stage environment focused on spatial compression, proximity, and raw physical atmosphere.
Rather than approaching the project as a conventional concert stage, the design was conceived as a narrow inhabitable corridor — a space that forced the performance into a more cinematic and lateral behavior. The venue originally offered a standard layher scaffolding stage and a conventional scenic box, but the intervention inverted those proportions entirely: a 23-metre-wide LED wall compressed the performance area into a corridor of only 2.5 metres in depth.
Suspended in front of the screen, an 18-metre industrial truss structure became the primary visual object of the show. Filled with continuous linear lighting, strobes, haze and exposed rigging details, the piece operated somewhere between lighting system, sculpture and architectural threshold. Instead of hiding the venue infrastructure, the project embraced its rawness — exposed scaffolding, visible hardware, darkness, smoke and structural repetition became part of the visual language itself.
One of the founders of Yok Studios said: We often try to design spaces rather than stages. We’re interested in corridors, horizontal proportions, compression, tension, and the emotional effect that scale and emptiness can generate on an audience. Most of our projects begin less from narrative ideas and more from a physical attraction towards certain forms, materials, atmospheres or spatial behaviors.
Strong references from fashion show scenography and industrial environments informed the project’s direction. Haze and light were treated as architectural materials rather than effects, giving physical density to the space and reducing the performer into silhouette and movement.
