FRED AGAIN TOUR

UK/EU TOUR 2023

Last year in a video posted to his official Instagram account, the DJ John Philip Gibson, known as Fred Again announced his tour:

I do just wanna say that I do very much wanna come back to lots of other cities down the line. But right now, for the type of things I want to try with the show and musically, it made most sense to set up in one venue for more shows rather than moving about. I do just wanna say that I do very much wanna come back to lots of other cities down the line. But right now, for the type of things I want to try with the show and musically, it made most sense to set up in one venue for more shows rather than moving about.

And so he did.

He presented an incredible show between London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.

The mind behind the shows was Fred's long-term collaborator and close friend Lucy ‘Loose’ Hickling that is responsible for the physical manifestation of his ideas. She’s the creative director of his live performances and also the visual designer for his social media and communication strategy.

The four night residency at Alexandra Palace in London was mind blowing, and the set design merged with the rhythmic music by Fred, exploded in all its energy.

As we can read from the magazine Lighting & Sound International the aim for the show was to create a space that feels enveloping, where everyone inhabits it equally. But the most important thing was that the show was different night after night both visually and musically. In fact there were timecodes and MIDI triggers linked to and from every button that Fred pushed during the live set, in this way the set and the show was an unrepeatable moment.

Multiple interlinked, electronic elements, each of which trigger video, lighting content and effects. All was controlled and programmed by an incredible team composed among these by Raw Cereal and Pixelmappers.

The distinctive architecture of Alexandra Palace’s West Hall was obscured by black drapes; not only did this massively improve the audio response of the room but also creating a black void filled with lights, music, videos and energy.

A little universe where it was possible to listen to music and get lost in the show again, again and again...
