Oresteia is a contemporary dance piece based on Aischylos Greek tragedy. Over the course of 90 minutes, the audience is immersed in a visually stunning world and experiences Greek tragedy in a modern setting. The set design is visually strong and minimalistic. It’s combining state-of-the-art technology with historical content. Moving staircases in marble-like colors are reminiscent of dilapidated Greek monuments, which can be transformed from temple structures to an amphitheater. An 8-meter wide ring of light hangs above the stage, embodying the divine realm and bathing the dancers of the St. Gallen Dance Company in a light that is sometimes brutal, sometimes highly poetic.
19x Clay Paky Tambora Batten Fixtures mounted on a 8 meter truss ring, rigged on 4 point hoists, created this immersive and poetic portal. A steam water system built into the structure of the ring, created a surreal texture and enabled the full potential of the lighting fixtures. Together with the @stgallendancecompany and their leaders @frankfannar & @javier_r_cobos, scenography and dance melted together to a spectacular show.
