SNOH AALEGRA SHOW

SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE - AUSTRALIA

We had the oppurtunity to talk with Ricardo Rojas, about last Snoh Aalegra's first perfomance in Australia.

When Snoh Aalegra’s team reached out to me about her upcoming tour and headline show at the Sydney Opera House I knew that we had the opportunity to create something spectacular. This show was in-the-round, with a sold-out audience placed on all sides of the stage eagerly awaiting her first performance in Australia.

Snoh is an incredible performer and musician. I set out to create something that would match her energy on stage and transport her audience through the different emotions that her music so eloquently evokes.

My goal was to design something that could change forms throughout the performance. Something that could feel grand yet intimate, vulnerable yet powerful, intentional, graceful, emotionally charged, atmospheric and dreamy. A living, breathing design that could evolve, unfold and blossom during the performance.

The main element of this design was these beautiful kinetic sphere lights. This was the tool that would allow us to bring this vision to life.

Thank you to my team for working so hard on this show. Danni, amazing job on the lighting programming. Paul, thank you for taking this show around the world and giving it the attention to detail that it requires.

A mindblowing perfomance characterised by a clear minimal set design, an element, the sphere that outlines new spaxce and emotions.
