WEDDING SHOW
GHENT - BELGIUM
This project was designed for a wedding, held inside of an industrial warehouse in Ghent, BE.
Instead of developing separate spaces, ERASED STUDIO imagined a singular evolving scenography which conceived the anticipated atmosphere for each phase during the celebration.
Given this specific context, the primary challenge was to create a warm and intimate space inside of the monumental construction. Therefore, ERASED STUDIO introduced a moving fabric as the centerpiece of the design. A simple yet mesmerizing structure that dynamically alters the space and its ambience after each transformation.
Once entering the space, the guests discovered the floating fabric attached to a central structure straight above the dining table, resembling a gigantic double layered canvas. The presence of this fabric hanging only a few centimeters above the seated guests changed the perception of the space, filling the void above them.
At a certain moment, during the dinner, 10 performers walked towards the table and attached handheld ropes to the fabric. When they got back at their initial position and pulled the other end of the ropes, the fabric unfolded. Simultaneously the central structure was lowered, creating an altered space above the dining table. The fabric, now resembling the infamous shape of a tent, was lit by a warm orange light echoing the sunset that took place outside of the venue.
At the end of the dinner, the table was cleared and split into 4 pieces, creating a central dancing area.
The structure was lowered even more, to the point where the fabric started covering the floor. Two ropes were pulled, creating a third space resembling the shape of a cross-shaped cave. During this ending phase the aim was to create a confined and intimate dance floor, separated from the dark and empty warehouse around it.
In addition to the spatial design, ERASED STUDIO oversaw the artistic direction of the event. Thoroughly curating furniture, decoration, lighting and music. Aiming to ensure a cohesive aesthetic and immersive experience during every stage of the event.
