Designer Nathan Paul Taylor has unveiled one of his most artistic projects to date with global Latin superstar J Balvin. The landmark live show, which made its debut in Mexico City on 14 - 15 May, is the result of a decade-long creative collaboration, with every element designed to reflect the full range of J Balvin’s musical identity.
At the core of the stage design is The Cloud, a kinetic LED ceiling installation that moves with the performance itself, a transformative architectural feature that alternately opens wide to reveal an expansive environment, then compresses close around J Balvin to create moments of intimacy and cinematic focus. Echoing the constant evolution of the ceiling above is a geometric LED floor cutting through the stage and introducing an inclined landscape of layers, depth, and movement. ‘The Cloud’ transforms ceiling and floor into active parts of J Balvin’s visual world, ensuring no two moments feel the same.
Nathan Paul Taylor’s artistic concept is rooted in restraint, precision, and an unwavering focus on the artist. The result is a design that is architectural and modern, combining the refined visual language of high fashion with the boundless energy of a reggaeton party, with choreography, screen content and kinetic movement all orbiting around J Balvin.
Nathan Paul Taylor and J Balvin’s creative collaboration spans almost ten years, bringing to life some of the most visually iconic moments in Latin music. Their shared work includes the Vibras Tour, supporting his acclaimed album Vibras in 2018 and the Arcoiris Tour in 2019, which took the artist’s vibrant, colour-saturated universe to audiences across the world.
Their partnership reached a historic milestone at Coachella in 2019, when J Balvin became the first reggaeton artist to headline the main stage. The performance, which celebrated the Latin diaspora and the global rise of Latin music, is widely recognised as a cultural turning point in Coachella history.
The latest Mexico production represents the evolution of that collaboration, a project leaner and more architecturally formed than ever before.
The production launched in Mexico City ahead of a widely anticipated 2026 touring calendar. J Balvin recently released Omerta, his collaborative album with artist Ryan Castro, adding further momentum to what is shaping up to be a landmark year. He is also set to perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, which will bring his visual world to some of the largest audiences across the globe.
